APPLY TO BE AN ADVANCED SKILLS TEACHER (AST)
|
Cambridgeshire LA has 43 ASTs. 13 are school funded ASTs and 30 are LA funded posts. They are involved in a wide range of outreach work, supporting teachers in primary, secondary and special schools.
If you would like to know who they are, and what their specialism is, CLICK HERE to link to their Pen Portraits or please contact Sue Ward, AST coordinator susan.ward@cambridgeshire.gov.uk for further information. CLICK HERE to find out what it means to become an AST (by Polly Redmond, Design and Technology AST).
If you are a head teacher or senior manager wishing to enquire about funding arrangements for ASTs, please contact Susan Ward, LA AST coordinator susan.ward@cambridgeshire.gov.uk.
If you are interested in becoming an AST, visit the AST website http://www.teachernet.gov.uk/professionaldevelopment/opportunities/ast/ which will answer the majority of your questions. Then, contact Susan Ward (see above) who will be able to put you in touch with an existing AST to support your application process.
Cambridgeshire LA is working with ASTs to develop their role; for example there is an induction programme and a range of training opportunities are being explored. There are also termly ASTs’ meeting, termly newsletters to be produced and links with the consultants and advisers.
