Comenius Professional Development Courses
General
Participants can attend formal courses for teachers across Europe that are in the database of Comenius Training courses. There is a mixture of general courses, science, arts and social sciences and languages. The language(s) of the course will be given in specific information about each course. Courses could take place in any of the 30 participating countries across Europe. They are a means of sharing practice amongst teachers in Europe.
Who can apply?
Comenius in-service training grants are available for staff involved in school or further education. Funding up to 2000 Euro for 1 week and 2500 Euro for 2 weeks and up to a maximum of 3000 Euro for 6 weeks. A higher grant may be awarded where special needs or exceptionally high travel costs are involved.
Commitment
Courses may be 1 week, 2 weeks or longer. They may be in school time or during school holidays. Courses may have any language of the EU as the working language(s). This is given in the detailed information for each course. You will need to feel comfortable with the working language(s).
The length of the course and when it takes place will affect the need for cover that is at the school's expense.
Outcomes
Undertaking a training activity provides an excellent opportunity to develop your classroom teaching, develop a new initiative and possibly refresh your language skills. Friendships with other teachers and institutions provide a greater understanding of school and further education across Europe. The course may also help form school links.
