 Language Courses Abroad

General

These courses are run through the National Centre for Languages (CiLT). CiLT's courses abroad are an opportunity to improve your language skills in the country with a mix of language classes, methodology sessions and cultural visits.

Courses this year include:

Spanish for the Primary School, 24th - 30th May, Tordesillas
French for the Primary School, 26th July - 1st August, 16th - 22nd August, Lille
Spanish for the Secondary School, 24th May - 6th June, Pamplona
Italian alla Fiorentina, 22nd - 31st October, Florence

You can apply for a grant through the Comenius in-service training programme administered by the British Council to contribute to the course fee, subsistence and travel. Please note that the British Council grant is paid in Euros.

Who can apply?

The courses are for teachers of these languages in the relevant phase of education. Your headteacher will need to countersign the application. The level of language needed can vary, from 'GCSE Grade C or equivalent' to 'teachers with Spanish / Italian as a second or third foreign language'. Please check the details of each programme.

Outcomes

The courses improve your competence in the language, develop language teaching methodology, allow you to collect suitable authentic materials for teaching and update and improve your knowledge of the culture of the language. They will improve your effectiveness in the classroom.
