- www.e-gfl.org then click on 'Curriculum Resources' then on ''RE' then onTeaching Rescources', then on 'A long time ago in a far away land'. Through this site, teachers can download the wonderful collection of stories which was published as 'A long time ago in a far away land'. This anthology gives a wealth of stories from Buddhist, Hindu, Sikh and Islamic traditions, retold for KS1 children. There is a very helpful guide to the pronunciation of names at the beginning. Some of the stories have been rewritten for this web based anthology, and there is a brief commentary at the beginning of each story.
This is a very useful resource and could be used by teachers at KS2 as well as KS1.
This site has stories from Christian, Jewish, Hindu, Islamic, Buddhist and Sikh traditions and some on general spiritual or moral themes. Many are reproduced from previous publication in RE magazines or anthologies. This is an excellent source for unusual stories - for example a powerful retelling of the Hindu story about Kali and why there is death in the world.
The stories vary as far as target age-group is concerned, but could easily be adapted for use with younger or older pupils.
Simple illustrated retellings of some key Christian and Jewish stories, suitable for pupil use in KS1/2.
